Comme chaque fin d’année, Vichy Enchères vous donne rendez-vous pour ses belles ventes d’instruments du quatuor ! Du 29 novembre au 1er décembre 2022, se tiendra le deuxième volet de nos ventes d’instruments de prestige, qui rassembleront des modèles de grands maîtres de la lutherie et de l’archeterie ancienne et moderne, provenant principalement des deux pôles historiques que sont l’Italie et la France. A cette occasion, nous vous attendons encore une fois nombreux en salle ou en live sur Interencheres, pour suivre la dispersion de plus de mille modèles retraçant l’histoire de la facture des instruments du quatuor. Un violoncelle de Vuillaume ayant appartenu à Jean-Michel Moulin
Lors de la vente du 1er décembre 2022, un beau violoncelle de Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume des années 1840-45 sera présenté aux enchères. Plus rares dans la production du célèbre luthier, ses violoncelles sont particulièrement intéressants et celui-ci présente l’intérêt supplémentaire d’avoir été fabriqué au moment où Vuillaume rencontrait tous les succès en Europe. Sans surprise, ce remarquable instrument a accompagné la carrière d’un grand musicien, Jean-Michel Moulin, violoncelle-solo de l’Orchestre National de Lille.
Jean Petitcolas (1924-2021) : une carrière entre aventures, simplicité et succès international
Le 1er décembre 2022, deux instruments de la maturité artistique de Jean Petitcolas seront présentés aux enchères – un violon et un alto -, accompagnés d’un ensemble de modèles anciens de sa collection, de la main de François Lupot II, Hippolyte Lamy, Jean Joseph Martin ou encore Vigneron Père. A cette occasion, Vichy Enchères tenait à rendre hommage à ce luthier, médaille d’or du Grand Prix de Liège en 1960. Il fut le dernier mirecurtien de naissance à s’installer à Paris et fit partie des pionniers du renouveau de la lutherie moderne française. De ses débuts troublés par la guerre, en passant par sa formation chez de grandes figures de la lutherie jusqu’à son succès : lumière sur ce brillant luthier injustement resté dans l’ombre de certains de ses contemporains.

Like every year-end, Vichy Enchères invites you to its beautiful quartet instrument sales! From 29 November to 1 December 2022, the second part of our prestigious instrument sales will be held, bringing together models from the great masters of violin making and ancient and modern bow making, mainly from the two historical centres of Italy and France. On this occasion, we are expecting you once again in large numbers in the auction rooms or live on Interencheres, to follow the dispersal of more than a thousand models retracing the history of the making of quartet instruments. At the auction on 1 December 2022, a fine cello by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume from the 1840s-45s will be presented. Rarer in the famous maker’s output, his cellos are particularly interesting and this one has the added interest of having been made at a time when Vuillaume was enjoying great success in Europe. Not surprisingly, this remarkable instrument accompanied the career of a great musician, Jean-Michel Moulin, solo cellist of the Lille National Orchestra.
Jean Petitcolas (1924-2021): a career of adventure, simplicity and international success
On December 1, 2022, two instruments from the artistic maturity of Jean Petitcolas will be presented at auction – a violin and a viola -, accompanied by a set of old models from his collection, from the hands of François Lupot II, Hippolyte Lamy, Jean Joseph Martin or Vigneron Père. On this occasion, Vichy Enchères wanted to pay tribute to this violin maker, gold medal winner of the Grand Prix of Liège in 1960. He was the last Mirecurtian by birth to settle in Paris and was one of the pioneers of the revival of modern French violin making. From his beginnings, troubled by the war, through his training with great violin makers to his success: light on this brilliant violin maker who has remained unjustly in the shadow of some of his contemporaries.
